tablewithoutpity: (in darkness)
Hannibal believes Will when he says the intimacy was real. It's unclear, however, whether that makes it better or worse. There's a certain comfort in knowing that someone you trusted and cared for never truly cared for you. Yet when someone cares and yet still chooses to betray you, to take your life, your freedom, the wound is so much deeper. Still, Hannibal finds satisfaction in that he did not misread the situation so terribly that wanted to be seen by someone who couldn't care less.

With the car stilled and silenced, Hannibal turns to Will as well, meeting his eyes in the darkness. "Your motivations for luring me into a trap? For taking my life? How were they different tonight from when you first made your plans with Jack?" His voice is for the most part calm, curious, but with a very faint undercurrent of hurt.
