tablewithoutpity: (attention)

Will's words make Hannibal ache, a bittersweet sensation he is unfamiliar with, of love requited. He can imagine one of those possibilities he had in mind if this evening's conversation at his table had taken a different turn, if Will had declined the offer (however shrouded) of redemption. He can imagine standing over a bleeding Will, watching the man he loves as his life ebbs away, and letting bitter words of love unrequited fall from his lips. But now it's Will's words that are a balm to Hannibal's raw, exposed heart. And when Will's lips meet his Hannibal draws another breath, and lifts a hand to touch Will's cheek as he kisses him back. When Will withdrew Hannibal was smiling quietly, gazing at his friend and lover for a long moment.

Then he turns away, unbuckles his seat belt and gets out of the car. He tucks his hands into his pockets and strides to Will's house, climbs the stairs to his porch and waits for Will to join him.
